2010 Auction

Agent of the Year (this is a two-way tie)

Nathan Bransford, Curtis Brown, LTD.
Not only did Nathan bring in $1,200 for his donation of a critique and follow-up phone call, he went above and beyond in helping to promote the auction at every opportunity.

Jennifer Jackson of The Donald Maass Agency
Jennifer really stepped up to the plate. When we put her donation of a read into the "for writers" raffle, she offered a second one to be auctioned off which ended up bringing in $1280!

Editor of the Year

Megan Records
Megan at Kensington Books did her former boss, the late and much missed Kate Duffy, proud by donating three critiques: one FULL manuscript, two partials, and a year of Brava Books. She was one of the first on board this year and all her donations brought in over $4000!

Publisher of the Year (another tie!)

Harlequin
My publisher never disappoints when it comes to the auction. With over a dozen editors offering critiques, the donation of a tour of Harlequin Enterprises, and always a helping hand, Harlequin brought in more than $12,000!

Kensington Books
In honor of the late Kate Dufy, Kensington hosted their own category this year that included reads from their editors and donations from their authors. Combined, this publishing house raised over $6300!

Authors of the Year:

Every year this is the toughest category because I want to acknowledge every author who contributed. But I need to keep this short and sweet. With that in mind, these are the standouts for this year. These authors either gathered a whole page of offerings, donated an item spectacular enough that I could use it for publicity or helped drive traffic to the auction site.

Book Candy Studios
Book Candy Studios was our other star!

Bookseller of the Year

Bradley Simkins at Booklovers Bookstore
Once again, Bradley hosted his own category with nearly 200 books, including autographed copies of THE HOST, THE SCARPETTA FACTOR and STONES INTO SCHOOLS.

Best Offering by an RWA Chapter

It's a repeat!! The Emerald City Chapter of RWA donated a fabulous conference package that included:

  • Paid registration to the 2010 Emerald City Writers' Conference (ECWC) ($209-229 value)

  • Two nights hotel in a standard room paid ( $248 estimated value)

  • Coffee with author Brenda Novak during conference and a chance to discuss your latest project or ask questions about agents, editors and the current market.

  • $50 cash to use at the Saturday night book fair

  • PLUS a private appointment with your choice of either an agent or editor who is attending the conference (appointments are usually group, so this is a fabulous opportunity for a one-on-one with your choice of agent or editor in attendance).

Bidder of the Year

With two weekly prize winnings, our Bidder of the Year is Louise Pledge. Louise has been one of my biggest supporters from the beginning and I love seeing her come back every year.

New: Blogging Group of the Year

The Petit Fours and Hot Tamales Blogging Group put together a fabulous array of offerings and raised over $1700 their first year! Thank you ladies!

Assistants of the Year

Anna Stewart
Kim Castillo

Once again, I could NOT have pulled this auction off without these two talented and dedicated people. And thanks to my family for putting up with me being unable to think or talk about anything else for months!
