October 2009

Greetings!

Happy Autumn! This is my favorite time of year, when the leaves change and the weather cools and we look forward to the holidays. I hope you're reading and enjoying the PERFECT books, and I hope you will also enjoy the following tips.

Brenda Novak’s PERFECT 10

1. The PERFECT pumpkin treat for fall. Pumpkin is one of my favorite foods, especially this time of year. Fortunately, this recipe for pumpkin muffins is as lean as it is delicious.

  • 1 Cake Mix (Spice)
  • 1 Small Can of Pumpkin
  • 1.5 cup water

1 bag of chocolate chips (not necessary but this makes it extra yummy—and, sadly, a little less lean—LOL)

Beat the pumpkin, cake mix and water together in a bowl. Stir in the chocolate chips and put in muffin tins. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 – 25 minutes.

2. The PERFECT read (Well, one of them! LOL). THE PERFECT MURDER, the sixth and last book in The Last Stand series is out and earned 4.5 stars and a TOP PICK designation from RT BOOK Review Magazine.

As always, Novak’s plotting is flawless, and her characterizations are rich and multilayered…The romance between the two wounded protagonists…simply sizzles. A keeper.

3. The PERFECT tip. After buying a zillion different lotions to keep my legs from getting too dry (and itching as a result), I’ve finally figured out a very easy way to solve my own problem. Ladies (or gentlemen, if you’re so inclined <G>), when you shave your legs, use hair conditioner instead of soap and say good-bye to that drying problem.

4. THE PERFECT way to save a buck. If you’ve already purchased THE PERFECT COUPLE or THE PERFECT LIAR, there’s a $1.00 off coupon in the back for THE PERFECT MURDER.

5. The PERFECT chocolate. My daughter has a friend who is a chocolatier. Insisting I had to try his offerings, she dragged me down to Berkeley, California to visit his store--Chocolatier Blue (1964 University Ave). I sampled the caramel chocolate, the passion fruit (my personal favorite), the key lime, and the chili. Our visit reminded me of one of my favorite movies—Chocolat. <G> Chris Blue truly has the most unusual, tasty and beautiful chocolates I’ve come across. And I have since learned that he is the only chocolatier in America allowed to use Amedei chocolate (from a Tuscan chocolate maker). It’s been rated the BEST, and I’d have to agree—Chris’s chocolates are PERFECT. If you’d like to place an order, you can do so at www.chocolatierblue.com

6. Fan Club BraceletThe PERFECT fan “thank you.” If you’re planning to submit your receipts to receive the turquoise and copper bracelet designed by Belukro exclusively for my fan club members, don’t forget to purchase THE PERFECT MURDER by October 5th. You can get all the details here. (Put a picture of the bracelet and make Belukro a link to their web site at www.belukro.com)

7. The PERFECT gadget. Every year I scour the California State Fair looking for the new fun thing. This year, I found a phone charger that doesn’t need to be connected to AC power. For only $10 you can have a small emergency battery charger that you carry in your purse. And it works with any phone. For more information, e-mail: cpcharger@gmail.com (It has a free lifetime replacement of connector cable and radiation shield.)

8. The PERFECT chance to win. This month I’m giving away a $100 gift certificate to Borders, a giveaway that is open to everyone. Why is this PERFECT? Because if you win you get to choose what books you want. What’s better than that?

9. The PERFECT diversion--Twitter. Boy, wouldn’t I know. I swore I’d never Tweet, and now I’m hooked and hoping you’ll join me in my addiction. Come follow me at www.Twitter.com.

10. The PERFECT Christmas/birthday or “other” gift. How about an autographed set of THE PERFECT COUPLE, THE PERFECT LIAR and THE PERFECT MURDER in a stylish Brenda Novak tote bag? PERFECT for any booklover. Order the set--and get them autographed with a Brenda Novak tote for free at http://www.bookloverscafe.com/.

Or, if you prefer, buy one or all of the series at Borders.com, Amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com

Fan Club

Reminder: If you’re a member of the fan club, and didn’t include your email address when you sent in your receipt, please email my assistant, Anna (tinkabela@aol.com) with it. We want to make sure you receive all the perks, invitations and special offers I have planned for club members. (NOTE: Just because you are on my mailing list does not mean you’re in the fan club. In order to join the fan club and receive all the perks that go along with it you must buy a Brenda Novak novel in the first week it comes out and send in the receipt--unless you happened to join in one of the brief “openings” that didn’t require a receipt.)

It even comes with a CD with 4 meditations for writers, including one on how to give the perfect pitch to an agent or editor. Here's a link to the book at Amazon
